Pity

The girl stood at the window in silence,

simply staring at the flowers in the garden,

and watching the other children play.

She wanted nothing more than to join them.

To play in the garden and be a child,

if only for a day.

Her mother knew of her daughters sadness.

She wished that it could be different for her little girl.

But she also knew that without proper supervision and care,

it had to always be this way.

So her mother sighed,

and simply walked away.

As she did,

her daughters tears filled the hall with sounds,

that broke her heart

and made life empty.

Hate being in love

How long would you say the average relationship between two people, supposedly in love, lasts? I’m talking the regular couple of people that met, dated for awhile and then eventually moved in together. Maybe they got married, had kids…whatever, my question is: How long did it take before they had one to many fights, which consequently led to one of them moving out?

Do people actually stay in love forever? Is it possible to love only one person for the rest of your life, and truly only have eyes for the one your with?

I understand that there are older couple that celebrate 50, 60 or even 80 year anniversaries, but the people that pass those milestones came from a different era. They were born in a time without the full expression of “talking about it” after a fight, or even the womens liberation movement, was not a commonly held belief system in most houses.

Everyone wants to say that their parents are the exception to the rule as well, but as I get older I’m beginning to doubt that as well. How much did you really know about your parents? besides of course what they wanted you to know. What kind of dirty secrets did your parents hide so as to not warp your fragile little mind? Every father had porn hidden somewhere in the house, you have to realize that probably was just the start of a trail in your parents bedroom that led to the reason they closed the door everynight when you went to bed. What about the nights that daddy didn’t come home?

The point of this post is because I don’t think that our generation with reach the same milestones of our grandparents. Most of their kids, our parents, didn’t. As soon as the free love movement took effect, followed by the monetary boom of the 80′s, it became divorce central all across America, and it’s only getting worse.

So what happens now?
